The SIG Sauer 1911 Emperor Scorpion is a full-size 8+1 capacity 45 Auto M1911. This gun look nicely modernized by virtue of its marvelous FDE finish across its slide and frame, Hogue Piranha G10 grips and modern sights. It also features a big skeletonized loop hammer, skeletonized trigger and more.
The Emperor Scorpion has a PVD flat dark earth (FDE) finish. PVD stands for physical vapor deposition. It looks great and makes any gun corrosion resistant and more durable. While the slide and frame are FDE, everything else including the sights, trigger, hammer, etc., is black.
The Emperor Scorpion is has single-stack architecture and comes with a pair of 8-round steel magazines.
Dovetailed into the beautifully barrel-vaulted slide is a set of three-dot SIGLITE night sights. The rear one is adjustable for windage.
This full-size single-action (SAO) gun has a 5.0” long carbon steel barrel. It is 5.5” tall, 1.4” wide and 8.7” long from front to back. With a stainless steel slide and stainless steel frame, the Emperor Scorpion weighs 41.6 ounces.
The slide has short diagonal grip serrations in front and longer ones in back. The gun’s sight radius is a generous 6.5”. Under the muzzle is a three-slot M1913 Picatinny rail to mount lasers, etc. The gun has an attractive upturned beavertail and underneath it a beavertail safety.
The Hogue Piranha G10 grips are tough, light and durable. They have aggressive matching and are stamped with the SIG logo. The backstrap has corresponding black hatching while the front has the grip’s metal stippling.
The gun has a bow-tie skeletonized trigger that sits in a classic racetrack oval trigger guard. In back is a beavertail safety and an ambidextrous thumb safety. Other controls such as the magazine release and slide catch are on the left.
